INTO A NEW LEARNING YEAR!

The Learning Shop Newsletter Hello,

How are you doing? It seems an odd time to wish you Happy New Year, but as our Learning Year begins in April, that's exactly what I'm going to do …. Happy New Year!
Don't worry though, I'm not going to ask you to make any New Year Resolutions. Instead I'll tell you about one or two things that are going on.

ID CARDS

First of all, if you're a Tutor, you should have received your new ID card by now, which states you are working with us for another year. Thanks for staying with us. You can use your ID card to gain entry to Ayr College Library at Dam Park, and withdraw Adult Learning materials and books. So if you're looking for some inspiration, go along and have a browse. We've put this service in place especially for you.
EMAIL
Secondly, are you into using your computer? (If you need a bit of a hand, remember you can book in for tuition with Ayr College tutors at The Learning Shop in the morning - Monday to Thursday.) If you are comfortable with IT, you might like to volunteer to do some of your tuition by email. We're piloting a tutor service through our website. The idea is that you and your student are both given an Adult Learning email address and password. This means that you can communicate with your student via email and encourage their literacy skills that way. You could do a little homework via email, or just keep in touch. This isn't intended to replace your weekly session with your student - just to add to it. If you'd like to give this a try, please phone Wendy on 0800 389 8320 and ask her to set up addresses and passwords for you ....of course, you could always email her on wendy.kerr@south-ayrshire.gov.uk if you prefer.

Do you think my New Year's resolution should be not to talk so much. Don't answer that! I'll stop now and let you read the rest of the news ...
