Thirty tutors attended a full training day with Mary Evans from Dyslexia Scotland on the 14th of March. The day was designed to raise awareness of dyslexia, share the experience of ‘being dyslexic’ and to look at the best ways to help learners with dyslexia.
The day was held at Craigie Management Centre, where we were extremely well catered for!
During the day, Mary had us involved in a raft of exercises ranging from story reading to ‘spelling like a dyslexic’! By the end of it we all realised how mentally and physically exhausting it could be just dealing with everyday situations when you were dyslexic.
As a result, we’re hoping to be more sensitive tutors and more helpful too!
Thank you to everyone who came along, and (of course) to Mary.
By the way, for copies of the handouts or additional information from Mary, please contact Wendy at The Learning Shop.
