Volunteers are Volunteering!

The Learning Shop Newsletter Do you know we have 112 active volunteer tutors right now? Yes, and in fact over twenty new volunteers are half way through the latest Volunteer Tutor Training class held on Thursday mornings in Paisley University Campus, Ayr. The course lasts for ten weeks and (as ever!) is absolutely free. Fifteen recent volunteers will tell you that the course is easy-peasy (well, almost!). Certainly, the tutors pictured all passed recently and received their certificates in The Learning Shop in February. Well done to all of you! It’s great to have such enthusiastic support.

DON’T STOP

Do you ever think, as a tutor, that you’d like to give more time to tutoring? Usually we just ask you for an hour of your time, but these days, some volunteers would like more involvement than that. Perhaps you’d like to do two or three hours a week, or a half day, or even a full day. If so, we’ve got more tutoring opportunities now than we’ve ever had. Why not phone up your own Literacies Development Worker and have a chat about increasing your hours? I’m sure they’ll be pleased to hear from you.
I certainly will be!
Linda
